Century by Sarah Singleton(Yan Shin)

Mercy Galliena Verga and her sister Charity live in a twilight and mysterious world, wakes up when the moon rises. Their house named 'Century', is always dark, old and cold. Everyday, they lived in a winter night, each day is the same. There's a difference between Mercy and her sister, Mercy can see ghosts in her house but the ghosts couldn't even speak or hear her. Mercy, saw this frightening ghost near Century's pond, she felt like it's trying to tell her something. Mercy always asked many questions from her father, Trajan, about the family and the way they live. Although, Trajan never answered. One day, she met this curious men 'Claudius' tries to help Mercy to change the family's history. However, Trajan wasn't happy about this, he tried to stop Mercy from meeting Claudius. Claudius wanted Mercy to live a joyful happy life like she does when she was young and lively, so Mercy have to unlock Century's secrets and also finding out about her mother's death. She wanted to know, but she doesn't want to destroy her home and her father's heart...

I liked this book because it's very scary and attracts you to read it. Whenever i read it, the story always give an image like i'm there inside the story. The scenes are always dark and bitter, the structure of the story is very different to other story books. There's a prologue and then only the book starts to tell the story. I would recommend it to people that loves horror and adventure books. I liked Mercy because she cared about her father's feelings and he is very determined to discover he family secret. Mercy is special and different to other people, that's the favourite thing i liked about her...

This sounds interesting Yan Shin - which character do you sympathise with most - Mercy or her father?
